Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Allegedly ("the app," "we," "us") collects, why, and how it's handled. We built Allegedly to work with as little personal data as possible — there's no account, no login, and no public feed of your content.

Information We Collect

Information we collect automatically

• A local device identifier — a random ID generated and stored only on your device when you first open the app. It isn't linked to your name, email, or any other personal identifier unless you choose to give us your email (see below). We use it to keep track of things like how many times you've shared a card, so we can grant rewards like a free month of Premium.
• Basic usage data — which category of card you generate (e.g. Friends, Sports), app screens viewed, and similar interaction events, used to understand what's popular and to improve the app. This is not linked to your name or contact details.
• Crash and error reports — if the app crashes or hits an error, technical diagnostic information may be sent to help us fix it. We do not configure this to include personal information.

Information you choose to provide

• Your contacts (optional) — if you use the "text specific friends" feature, the app reads your device's contact list locally, on your device only, so you can pick who to send a card to. Your contacts are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. When you send, your device's own Messages app handles the send — Allegedly never sees the message content or your contacts' phone numbers.
• Your email address (optional) — if you choose to enter your email when claiming a reward, we store it to send you occasional product updates. You can skip this entirely — it's never required to use the app.
• Content you create — the questions, odds, and any custom comment text you type in when generating a card. This stays on your device and inside the image you choose to export/share — we do not publish it anywhere or show it to other users inside the app. If you share a card link, the question text and odds you chose are encoded in that link so the shared web page can display the same card; any custom comment you added is not included in the link and never leaves your device except inside an image you choose to export.

Purchases

If you subscribe to Allegedly Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple's App Store (or Google Play on Android) and by our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details — that's handled entirely by Apple/Google.

How We Use Your Information

• To operate core features — like tracking send counts so we can grant referral/loyalty rewards
• To show ads (free tier) and manage your subscription (Premium tier)
• To understand which features and categories are popular, so we can improve the app
• To fix bugs and crashes
• To send you product updates, only if you gave us your email

We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising

On the free tier, Allegedly shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve, measure, and cap the frequency of those ads, Google and its advertising partners may use device identifiers, cookies, and similar technologies, and may process data such as your approximate (IP-based) location, device information, and ad interactions. For this activity, Google and those partners act as independent data controllers.

On iOS, Allegedly does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA). Ads in the app are not personalized using cross-app tracking, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Where the GDPR (EEA/UK) or similar laws apply, we use Google's certified consent tool to ask for your choices before any ad data use that requires consent, and you can change those choices at any time from the app. The consent screen lists Google's current advertising partners; you can also review how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's ad technology providers.

Allegedly Premium removes all ads.

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing the data they process. We only share what's needed for them to provide their specific service to us.

Data Retention

We retain the data described above for as long as your install remains active, or until you request deletion (see "Your Rights" below). Uninstalling the app stops new data collection but does not automatically delete data already stored on our servers — contact us if you'd like it removed.

Data Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encrypted connections and access-controlled databases) to protect the information we store. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR in the EU/UK and CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, or to opt out of certain data uses. To make a request, contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children's Privacy

Allegedly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
